How does it work?

Over the past 14 years, we learned through ‘hard way’ that it is not always the same to form an organization than manage it properly.

Today, there are increasing number of local organizations, but very few of them are able to operate. We also learned how difficult is to build the capacity of an organization.

Not only there is no single way of doing it, the process is complex and need continued attention, most of the vexing problems confronting many Somali SCOs’ leaders are caused by a web of tightly interconnected factors.

To tackle these complex factors, there must be a serious transformation process with a multi-sectoral approach: a combination of various strategies.

Only by applying that fully, carefully and correctly, there will be a chance an organization can improve its performance gradually and achieve positive.

As a result of consolidated knowledge and experience, DMO applies a unique organizational development framework consist of seven dimensions designed to help an organization navigate through a successful ‘transformation journey’.

It has identified five key trends that will shape public service organizations’ role and function in both industry and society during the next decade.

Serving as catalysts in the movements toward the new reality, each of these trends will have a direct impact on the decisions that public service organizations will confront.

Organizational Development

First things first. As the most critical component; the focus is to ensure having a complete and correct understanding of how to form a non-profit organization.

What are the fundamental requirements? Type, legality, direction, structure, support, etc.

Governance

This element is based on the fact that any organization’s success depends on its top Leaders – those in the driver’s seat.

The focus is identifying, nurturing and retaining, Visionary and competent leaders and managers who are equipped with a broad range of management and leadership skills that enable them to govern their organizations effectively.

One of key objectives of non-profit organizations is to help addressing social problems.

To achieve that, organizations must have ability of determining, designing and providing quality services/projects aimed improving socio-economic conditions of the target beneficiaries and communities.

The best socio-economic impact can only be achieved through a joint effort and sharing responsibility.

Therefore, the focus is the ability to initiating and maintaining good relations among all key stakeholders: communities, donors, governments, private sector, media, and other development oriented agencies – locally, regionally and globally.

This means approaching long-term socio-economic development in ways that are long-lasting, without depending on continual external assistance.
