“I was worried for my Son’s health and was totally unaware of the cause of his malnutrition.
I did not have any idea of the importance of nutrition in his life” Maryam Hassan Mayow.
Maryam Hassan Mayow, is mother to 2 years old Muscab Nour Ahmed. They live in AWDIINLE village of Baidoa district in Southern Somalia. Muscab was suffering from malnutrition yet his mother didn’t know the cause.
Maryam took her Son to the DMO SC (Stabilization Center) nutrition facility that is run by a local Non- governmental organization where she was immediately admitted.
After diagnosis Muscab’s MUAC (Middle Upper Arm Circumference) was found to be at 10.5cm and she was immediately admitted at the center.
Muscab Stay DMO Stabilization center for 15 days and his health greatly improved. His MAUC rose from 10.5cm to 12.0cm and he was successfully discharged from the facility on the 22 of July, 2023.
“I did not have any knowledge on nutrition but DMO staff in Awdiinle was advised on the importance of nutrition. Now I am able to monitor my Son’s health and provide his with a balanced diet. I also breastfeed his and I can see the improvement on his health. I am very happy to see my Son in a better health than before,” beams Maryam.
