BSFP Report for March 2019

DMO is offering Blanket supplementary feeding programme services( BSFP) for  nine (9) nutrition sites in Baidoa district and its surrounding areas, which supported by WVI/WFP. Mean while this project is targeted for prevention under two years children who are at risk groups for malnutrition. Along with targeted supplementary feeding programme (TSFP) integrated in all the nine sites, which is targeted for treatment under five children aged 6-59 months and Pregnant and lactating women (PLW), who are moderately acute malnutrition (MAM). The TSFP/BSFP sites are four host communities and five outreach in all locations of Baidoa district.  DMO also running with integration of 8 OTPs services which is integrated mostly TSFP/BSFP programmes and also health project those supported by UNICEF.   During March 2019, BSFP  nutrition sites were screened, for a total 771  under two years of old cases  and distributed plumpy dose, while 1,183  scooped, registered  and admitted as new admissions for all 9 sites, after that  distributed plumpy doze.Additionally, IYCF facility based education sessions were conducted in order to raise awareness on the importance of practicing IYCF core components including; initiation of breastfeeding within the first hour of birth, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months in the infants’ life, introduction of solid and semi-solid for complimentary feeding as well as continuation of breastfeeding for two years and beyond.For a total of   562 caregivers attended to the BSFP sites, those benefited the key messages educated.
