Under the nutrition sector, in managing malnutrition, DMO is implementing the following components: Community mobilization, Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) and targeted supplementary feeding program (TSFP) as well as integration of health components. The Outpatient Therapeutic Programmes (OTPs) in Baidoa are 7 in a total, while one of them is fixed site and the rest are outreach sites, the OTP sites are remained operational to provide uninterrupted lifesaving interventions of therapeutic rehabilitation along the treatments of common malnutrition related illness for severely malnourished boys and girls without medical complications as well as referral for those discharged OTP to TSFP in order to enhance programme integration. During the everyday visits to the OTP sites, the caregivers were given key messages on management of SAM and proper utilization of Plumpy nuts as foods and medicines which is intended for the malnourished children only but should not be shared to normal children.
